Flooding of Ballsbridge

Natural disasters happen, it is a fact of life and there is not a lot that can be done about it. When natural disasters occur in conjunction with human error or incompetence (depending on your perceptive) then you often have a major problem. Much of the flooding in Ballsbridge could have been prevented had it not been for the human factor. Will any public official be held accountable?  I would not hold my breath in anticipation.

This is some footage I took as I left the house, filming was the last thing on my mind.

A Little Out of Season

It’s not normal for Ireland to have severe winters. The winter of 2010 was the coldest for 47 years with a low of -16°C (3.2°F). Not being a nation accustomed to such harsh and sustained cold snaps we did not quite know how to cope. The country just about came to a stand still. People in colder climes reading this might laugh but when you consider the average winter temperature is 8°C (46°F) we can be forgiven somewhat.

The video is a collection of scenes from the streets of Dublin during the big freeze.
